Connect Google Calendar
Connecting takes under a minute. It does two things: your existing events stop times being offered, and each confirmed booking is written into the calendar you choose.
Go to Booking → Calendars, press Connect Google Calendar, tick both permissions Google asks for, then press Write bookings here on the calendar that should receive your bookings.
Connecting#
- Go to Booking → Calendars.
- Press Connect Google Calendar.
- Choose the Google account whose calendar you work from. It does not have to be the account you sign in with — connect a work Google account even if you signed up with a personal one.
- On the permissions screen, leave both tick boxes ticked and press Continue.
- You come back to the Calendars page with Google calendar connected. and your calendars listed.
Google shows the two as separate tick boxes and it is easy to untick one. Clear either and the connection fails with Calendar access was not granted. Please allow calendar permissions when asked. Start again and leave them alone.
What Google is asking, and why#
| Google's wording | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| See and download any calendar you can access using your Google Calendar | Reading which of your calendars exist, and reading busy and free times so a booked hour is never offered. Business Box reads whether you are busy, not what you are doing. |
| View and edit events on all your calendars | Creating the calendar entry for each booking, moving it if the appointment is rescheduled, removing it if cancelled, and attaching a Google Meet link. Business Box only ever touches entries it created itself. |
You can withdraw access at any time, from your Google account permissions or with Disconnect in Business Box.
If Google warns that the app is not verified#
Google reviews applications that read calendars, and while a review is in progress it may show Google hasn't verified this app. If you see it and you are the one who chose to connect, press Advanced and then Go to app.marubox.jp (unsafe). The warning is about the review status, not about anything found wrong.
Choosing which calendars do what#
Every calendar on the account is listed, each with its own colour dot. Two separate decisions follow, and they are independent.
Which calendars are checked for clashes#
Tick Check for conflicts on every calendar that represents real commitments — your main calendar, a shared team calendar, a personal one you do not want appointments landing on top of. Anything busy in a ticked calendar stops that time being offered.
Leave it unticked for calendars that do not mean you are busy: a colleague's, or a reference calendar.
Public subscription calendars — a holiday feed, a sports fixture list — reject the query Business Box uses, so they show a note pointing at Availability instead of a tick box. That is where holidays belong anyway.
Which calendar receives your bookings#
Exactly one calendar, across all your connections, receives bookings. Press Write bookings here on the one you want; it then shows Bookings are written here. Calendars you cannot write to are marked Read only and cannot be chosen.
Until you choose one, an amber note says No calendar is set to receive bookings. Pick one below. Bookings still work, but nothing appears in your calendar, and Google Meet links cannot be created.
Google Meet links#
Once a Google calendar is receiving your bookings, set an event type's location to Google Meet on its Details tab. A Meet link is then created with the calendar entry and appears in the customer's confirmation email, in their calendar invitation and on their booking page as a Join meeting button.
If you had event types set to a phone call before connecting, Business Box notices and offers to switch them over — Use Google Meet for these bookings? — right on the Calendars page. Accept, or keep them by phone.
What a booking looks like in your calendar#
The entry carries the event type's name and the customer's name, their answers to your questions, and the Meet link if there is one. Your customer is added as a guest, so Google sends them its own invitation on top of the confirmation email from Business Box.
Move that entry in Google Calendar and Business Box follows the move: the booking is updated and reminders are re-timed. Delete it and Business Box flags it and emails you rather than guessing — see changes you make in your own calendar.
If something is wrong#
- Needs reconnecting
- Google has withdrawn the token, usually because the password changed or access was revoked. Press Reconnect. While a calendar is in this state your booking pages offer no times at all, so do it promptly.
- The connection link expired
- You left the Google screen open too long. Press Connect Google Calendar again.
- A calendar is missing from the list
- Press Refresh on the connection. If it still does not appear, check in Google Calendar that the account you connected actually has access to it.

Common questions
How do I connect Google Calendar to Business Box?
Go to Booking → Calendars and press Connect Google Calendar. Choose your account, leave both permission tick boxes ticked, and then press Write bookings here on the calendar that should receive bookings.
Can Business Box see what is in my calendar events?
It reads your calendar to work out when you are busy, and it creates and updates the entries for your own bookings. It does not show the contents of your other appointments anywhere in the app, and it never alters an entry it did not create.
Why does Google say this app is not verified?
Because Google reviews any app that reads calendars, and the review may still be in progress. If you chose to connect, press Advanced and then Go to app.marubox.jp. It is a statement about review status, not about anything found wrong.
Can I connect a different Google account from the one I sign in with?
Yes. Signing in and connecting a calendar are separate steps, so you can sign in with one account and connect the calendar of another.
Can I connect more than one calendar?
Yes — connect as many Google and Microsoft accounts as you like, and tick Check for conflicts on each calendar that means you are busy. Only one calendar, across all of them, receives your bookings.
How do I get a Google Meet link on every booking?
Make sure a Google calendar is set to receive bookings, then set the event type’s location to Google Meet on its Details tab. The link is created with the calendar entry and reaches the customer automatically.
