Business Box

Getting started

Signing up and having a link you can actually send takes about five minutes. Nothing here needs a calendar, a Stripe account or a card. You can add all of that afterwards.

In short

Go to app.marubox.jp, sign in with Google or Microsoft, type what people book with you and how long it takes, and press Create my link. You now have a working booking page.

Step 1: Sign in#

There is no password to create. Business Box uses your existing Google or Microsoft account to sign you in, which is also how it will later ask permission to see your calendar.

  1. Open app.marubox.jp.
  2. Choose Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft.
  3. Approve the sign-in on Google's or Microsoft's own screen. It only asks for your name and email address at this stage — not your calendar.
Choose carefully the first time

Your account is tied to the provider you first used. If you sign up with Google and later try Microsoft with the same email address, you will see This email is already registered with Google and be asked to use Google instead. Pick the account you actually run your business from — usually the one your work calendar is in.

You land on the Booking section with a panel headed Let's get your first booking link. It asks one question, because everything else has a sensible default you can change later.

  1. Under What do people book with you? type the name your customer will see — Intro call, Initial consultation, 60-minute massage. You can write it in Japanese.
  2. Pick a length: 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes.
  3. Press Create my link.

The panel then shows your live link and a Copy code button for putting it on your website. Press Open it to see exactly what your customer sees.

What it decided for you#

Every one of these is editable, and the rest of this guide explains where. Nothing is hidden: they are the defaults a new event type gets.

Your booking link looks like this:

https://app.marubox.jp/ben-smith-7k2q/intro-call

The first part is your public handle, assigned automatically from your name when you signed up, with a few random characters so it is unique. The second part is the event type's own name.

Both are yours to change. A tidier handle makes a tidier link, and it is worth doing before you start sending it out — see your public handle.

Dropping the last part gives you a page listing everything you offer: app.marubox.jp/ben-smith-7k2q. See Your booking page and links.

Step 4: The three things worth doing next#

In this order, because each one makes the next more useful.

  1. Connect your calendar. Until you do, Business Box does not know when you are busy, so it will offer times you cannot make. It also means each booking appears in your calendar automatically and can carry a Google Meet or Teams link. Connect Google Calendar · Connect Outlook
  2. Set your real hours. Weekdays 9 to 5 fits very few businesses. Availability
  3. Decide how you get paid. Free, paid online by card before the booking is confirmed, or paid in person at the appointment. Charging for bookings

Common questions

How do I create a booking link in Business Box?

Sign in, and on the Booking screen type what people book with you and how long it takes, then press Create my link. If you already have event types, use New event type on the same screen instead.

Can I use Business Box without connecting a calendar?

Yes, and bookings still work. But nothing else in your diary blocks out times, so you may be offered a slot you cannot make, and bookings will not appear in your calendar. Connecting one takes about a minute.

Can I sign in with an email address and password instead?

No. Sign-in is through Google or Microsoft only. It means there is no password for anyone to steal, and it is the same permission Business Box needs to read your calendar later.

I signed up with the wrong account. What now?

Sign out, and sign in again with the account you meant to use — it creates a separate account. If the first one has nothing in it, delete it from Settings → Delete account so the email address is freed up.
