Invite-only bookings and single-use links
A single-use link books one appointment and then stops working. It is how you reply to an enquiry with a time to pick, without publishing that appointment to the world.
Go to Booking → Invites, choose the event type, optionally fill in who it is for, and press Create a link. It is copied to your clipboard and shown once.
What they are for#
Two different jobs, and you can use either or both:
- Replying to an enquiry
- Somebody has emailed asking about an appointment. Send a link that works once, addressed to them. They pick a time; the link then stops. Works with any event type, public or not.
- Appointments that are never public
- An event type set to Invited people only is missing from your booking page and its own address returns Not found. The only way in is a link you have sent. Use it for a premium service, a follow-up only existing clients get, or a rate you would rather not publish.
There is a second benefit: invited people skip the anti-spam checks, including the email verification code if you have that switched on. The link already proves you meant them.
Creating a link#
- Go to Booking → Invites. You can also press Invite link on any row of the event types list, which arrives with that event type already chosen.
- Choose the event type under Book which event type. Invite-only ones are marked.
- Optionally add Their name and Their email. Both are optional; filling them in pre-fills the booking form, which is one less thing for your customer to do.
- Set Expires after — 1 to 90 days, 14 by default.
- Press Create a link.
The link is copied to your clipboard and displayed once, with its own Copy link button. It is not stored anywhere you can read it again. Paste it into your reply before you leave the page; if you lose it, create another and revoke the first.
Links look like app.marubox.jp/i/AbCd1234… — nothing about them identifies you or your customer.
Making an event type invite-only#
- Open the event type and stay on the Details tab.
- Set Who can book it to Invited people only.
- Press Save.
It now has no working public address, and the event types list shows No public link in place of the Copy link button. Send people there with an invite.
Invited people only keeps the event type live, just unlisted — invite links work. Unticking Visible on your booking page turns it off altogether, and then invite links stop working too.
Tracking and revoking#
Under Links you have created each invite shows who it was for, and whether it is open with its expiry date, used, or expired.
Revoke kills an open link immediately — use it if you sent one to the wrong address or lost it before pasting.
What the invitee sees#
The normal booking flow, with their name and email already filled in if you supplied them. Afterwards the link is spent, and clicking it again gives a plain explanation rather than an error:
| They see | Because |
|---|---|
| This booking link has been used | The booking was made. Their confirmation is in their inbox. |
| This booking link has expired | Past the expiry you set. |
| This booking link does not work | Revoked, mistyped, or the link was truncated by an email client. |
Some email clients cut long links in half when they wrap them. Put the link on a line of its own, with nothing after it, and it will survive.
Common questions
How do I send someone a private booking link?
Go to Booking → Invites, pick the event type, and press Create a link. The link is copied to your clipboard, works once, and expires after the number of days you chose.
Can I hide an appointment from my public booking page?
Yes. On the event type’s Details tab set Who can book it to Invited people only. It then disappears from your booking page and its own address returns Not found — invite links are the only way in.
Can one invite link be used by several people?
No. Each link books exactly one appointment and then stops working. Create one per person.
I lost an invite link before I sent it. Can I see it again?
No — it is shown only once. Create a new one, and revoke the old one from the list underneath so it cannot be used if it turns up somewhere.
