Online booking for music teachers
Teaching from home in a Japanese apartment means your hours are decided by the neighbours, not by demand — and a booking system that does not know that will offer nine in the evening.
Thirty minutes for children and sixty for adults as separate event types, a five-minute gap between them, paid online, with your hours set to when you can actually make noise.
Two constraints that fight each other#
Students are free after school and in the evening. Your building is tolerant until about eight. The overlap is narrow, and every lesson has to fit in it.
On top of that, recital season doubles your lesson count for six weeks twice a year, and thirty-minute children’s lessons and hour-long adult ones do not fit neatly against each other.

Teaching at home in an apartment brings noise limits that decide your hours more than demand does. Set the availability schedule to the hours you can actually play, and it will never offer 21:00 by accident.
Set the hours you can play#
Weekdays 15:30–20:00, Saturdays 10:00–18:00, or whatever your building actually tolerates. It is one setting and it removes the whole problem.
Two lengths, five minutes apart#
Thirty minutes for children, sixty for adults, with a five-minute buffer so one family leaving does not overlap the next arriving in a small entrance hall.
Payment before, not after#
Paid online means no envelopes, no forgotten cash, and a cancellation policy that applies itself. For a teacher whose slot cannot be resold at short notice, that is the whole point.

Common questions
How do I stop lessons being booked late in the evening?
Set your availability schedule to end when your building is happy — 20:00 for instance. Nothing later is offered, and you never have to decline.
Can I teach some students online?
Yes — a second event type with a Google Meet or Teams location. The link is created with the calendar entry and reaches the student automatically.
How do I handle the recital rush?
Raise the daily cap and open extra days with date overrides for those weeks, then set them back. Your ordinary weekly hours are untouched.
