The two ways a salon diary breaks#
The first is length. A client books "a colour", you allow ninety minutes, and it takes three hours because it was a correction. Everyone after them waits.
The second is discovery, and it is specific to Japan. Foreign clients are looking for a stylist who has cut curly, textured or fine European hair before, and they have usually had a bad experience. They will travel across a city for the right salon and they cannot tell from a price list which one it is.

Every service is its own event type#
Cut, cut and blow dry, root touch-up, full colour, highlights, treatment. Honest durations for each, taken from what the work really takes rather than what you wish it took. The client picks the service and the calendar offers times that can actually contain it.
Say whose hair you cut#
Put it in the description in both languages: curly, textured, fine, Afro, colour corrections on previously lightened hair. It converts better than any price, because it is the question the client is actually asking.
Deposits on the long appointments only#
A no-show on a thirty-minute cut is annoying. A no-show on a three-hour colour is a lost afternoon. Take a deposit online on the long event types and leave the short ones paid in person — you do not have to treat every booking the same way.

Common questions
How do I book different lengths for cuts and colours?
Make each service its own event type with its own duration and price. The client chooses the service, and the calendar only offers slots long enough to hold it.
Can I take a deposit for long colour appointments only?
Yes. Payment is set per event type, so long appointments can require a card and short ones can stay paid in person.
How do English-speaking clients find my salon?
Write your service names and descriptions in English as well as Japanese, and say which hair types you work with. Clients searching in English for a stylist who understands their hair are looking for exactly that sentence.
Can two stylists take bookings on one page?
Not on one account — one account is one diary. Small salons usually run an account per stylist, each with their own page and link.
