How to stop double bookings
Being in two places at once is the mistake that costs you a client outright. There is no recovering from asking somebody to leave.
Connect the calendar you actually live in, tick it for conflict checking, and let the booking page read it. Busy time then stops being offered, and bookings you take by phone go in the same diary.
How it happens even when you are careful#
Three routes, and most businesses have all three open at once:
- Two channels. One booking arrives by Instagram, another by phone, and neither knows about the other.
- A private commitment. A dentist appointment in your personal calendar that your work diary never saw.
- The gap you forgot. Two appointments across a city, back to back, which is a double booking in everything but name.
Why it is worse than a no-show#
A no-show costs you an hour. A double booking costs you a client, in person, while they are standing in front of you. It is the one scheduling failure people tell other people about.
Everything in one diary#

Two appointments an hour apart in different wards is not two appointments, it is two appointments and a journey. Set Buffer after to the travel you actually need and the calendar stops selling you the time you need to get there.
Two people booking the same slot at once#
Handled without you noticing. A slot is held while somebody fills in the form, and the second person is told the time has gone and shown the calendar again, with nothing they typed lost.

Common questions
How do I stop being double booked?
Connect the calendar you actually use and tick it for conflict checking. Busy time is never offered, existing bookings and their buffers are excluded, and a slot somebody is in the middle of booking is held until they finish.
Does it check my personal calendar too?
Only the calendars you tick. Connect as many as you like and tick each one that means you are genuinely unavailable — Business Box reads whether you are busy, not what you are doing.
What about bookings I take over the phone?
Add them with Add booking and they block the time like any other. If they clash with something you are warned first and can book anyway.
Why is an all-day calendar event not blocking my day?
Because Google creates all-day events as Free by default, and free time is not busy time. To close a whole day, use a date override in Availability instead.
