Group classes and multiple people per slot
This is the biggest thing Business Box does not do, and it is better said here than discovered after you have built a timetable on it.
No. One booking takes one time slot. Sixteen students cannot each book the 19:00 class — the first booking takes it and the slot disappears. There is no per-class capacity and no headcount.
What actually happens#
A confirmed booking is subtracted from your availability, exactly like an appointment in your calendar. So the 19:00 slot is offered until somebody takes it, and then it is gone.
The Max bookings per day setting does not change this. It limits how many bookings of one appointment type you take in a day, which is a different thing from how many people are in a room at once.
What that rules out#
- Drop-in classes — yoga, Pilates, barre, dance, martial arts, CrossFit, group fitness.
- Public workshops where strangers each book a seat — cooking, pottery, tastings, tea ceremony.
- Shared tours where several unrelated parties join one departure.
- Restaurant sittings sold as covers to several tables.
- Anything with a waiting list, which follows from having no capacity.
If that is the core of your business, Business Box is not the right tool today. Said plainly, because it is cheaper for you to know now.
What it does do well#
The one-party-per-slot model is exactly right for a large part of the same businesses:
- Private and one-to-one sessions — often the most profitable hours in a studio anyway.
- Duets and small privates, where one person books for the pair.
- Trials, assessments and introductory sessions, which are usually one visitor at a time.
- Whole-session bookings — a private cooking class for one family, a tour for one group, a private dining room. The party books once and tells you the headcount on the form.
- Studio and room hire by the hour, where one booking taking the room is the whole point.
Selling to one party, by headcount#
If you sell a session to a single group, this works properly. Add a required How many people? question on the booking form, price the session rather than the seat, and take payment at booking. Booking form questions

The workaround, and its honest limits#
You can approximate a small class by creating several event types for the same time — "19:00 class, place 1", "place 2" — each with its own availability window. It works, and it is genuinely unpleasant: the booking page shows the same class several times, you maintain it by hand, and it does not scale past a handful of places.
It is worth knowing it exists. It is not worth building a studio on.
What to use instead#
If group classes are your business, use a tool built for capacity. Several booking platforms handle class timetables, passes and waiting lists properly, and that is the right purchase.
Some studios run both: a class platform for the timetable, and Business Box for privates, trials and studio hire — where the calendar sync, the yen payments and the Japanese public holidays are worth having. There is nothing wrong with that split.

No — a waiting list needs capacity to be full of, which does not exist here. When a booking is cancelled the slot simply goes back on your page.
