When the booking page is not really in Japanese

A booking page translated by a plugin is worse than an English one. The English one is honest; the translated one looks like a business that does not quite know where it is.

In short

Check three things: the interface, the emails, and your own content. Most tools do the first, some do the second, and almost none let you write your service names in both languages.

Three layers, and most tools do one#

The interface
Buttons and labels. The easy part, and often the only part that is done.
The emails
Confirmations, reminders, cancellations. Frequently English-only even when the booking page was not, which means the customer books in Japanese and is then emailed in English.
Your own content
Your service names, descriptions, questions and confirmation messages. Almost never supported, so you end up choosing one language for your own words and disappointing half your customers.

And the details that give it away#

  • Dates written 3/4/2026, which is ambiguous here and reads as foreign.
  • Names in the wrong order, or a form insisting on a first and last name in separate boxes.
  • Line breaks in the middle of a word, because Japanese has no spaces and the layout was never tested for it.
  • Prices shown as ¥5,500.00.

How Business Box handles it#

English and Japanese throughout, from the beginning rather than bolted on. The app, every booking page, and every email — confirmations, reminders, cancellations, refunds, verification codes — exist in both.

Your customer sees the language their own browser asks for. You set yours separately, so you can run the app in English while your customers read Japanese.

Your own words, in both#

This is the part most tools miss. Service names, descriptions, booking form questions, the options in a dropdown, the confirmation message and the description on the receipt can each be written in English and Japanese. Fill in both and every customer reads something natural; fill in one and everybody sees that one.

And the local details#

Dates and times are formatted for the reader's language. Yen is a whole-number currency throughout. Japanese public holidays can close your diary automatically. Japanese text is laid out so lines break between phrases rather than mid-word.

Where this guide is not bilingual#

This documentation is English only today. The product is bilingual; the help pages are not yet. That is a gap, and it is ours rather than the software's.

Common questions

Can my customers book in Japanese?

Yes. The booking page, confirmations and reminders all appear in the language your customer’s browser asks for, and you can write your own service names and descriptions in both.

Can I use the app in English while customers see Japanese?

Yes — your language setting is separate from theirs. You work in English; each customer sees their own language.

What if I only write my service names in one language?

Everybody sees that one, marked so you know which it is. Nothing breaks; it just reads less naturally for the other half of your customers.
