Taking bookings through DMs

Social media is where your customers find you, and it is a terrible place to keep a diary. Those are two separate facts and you only have to fix the second one.

In short

Keep the discovery, move the booking. Put a link in the bio and reply to enquiries with it — the diary lives in one place, and the messages stop being your only record.

Where it stops working#

  • Two threads, one slot. Nothing in a messaging app knows what the other conversation agreed.
  • The diary is a scroll. Finding next Tuesday means scrolling three conversations.
  • No reminders. Unless you send each one by hand.
  • It never stops. Messages arrive at midnight and feel like they need answering.
  • Losing the phone loses the business. There is no second copy.

It works fine at five bookings a week. Somewhere around fifteen it becomes most of your working day.

Keep the part that works#

Instagram and LINE are how people find you, and nothing here changes that. What changes is where the appointment is recorded.

Your booking page lists everything you offer with lengths and prices. Someone arriving from a post picks and books without a message being sent. Your booking page

Reply to enquiries with a link, not a time#

When somebody does message, a single-use invite link ends the exchange in one reply. It works once, and it can be addressed to them so their details are already filled in.

And you get a real record#

Every booking has a customer, a time, their answers, a payment if there was one, and its own page. It is in your Google or Outlook calendar. It is searchable. It survives a lost phone.

LINE messaging is not built in

Business Box does not send LINE messages, and confirmations and reminders go by email. In Japan that is a real limitation, and it is written up honestly on its own page.

Common questions

Can I keep taking bookings on Instagram?

Yes — reply to enquiries with a booking link rather than a proposed time. The conversation stays where your customers are and the diary lives somewhere that can keep track of it.

Does Business Box connect to LINE?

No. There is no LINE integration and no LINE messaging; confirmations and reminders are email. You can put your booking link in a LINE message or a rich menu, but the messaging itself is not built in.

What if a customer will only message?

Add the booking yourself with Add booking. They still get a confirmation, reminders and a link to change it, and the slot is properly blocked.
